It’s been ages since I’ve written a blog post – maybe a year. Although life went on, it never seemed like there was much to write about that I hadn’t said before, in some form or another. And somehow, a whole year slipped away without documenting anything.
Lately, I’ve been playing around with creating frameable art with digital downloads from Etsy. There is a nice variety of vintage prints available that I’ve only recently discovered. I found some prints for spring, but since we are still in the throes of winter here, I decided to start with this print.
This print from Arteex is not only moody, but I found it captured my winter memories, past and present, in a way I can hardly put into words. There is something very peaceful and serene about it.
One of my favorite ways to decorate is with old vintage books that I find at flea markets. I have a growing collection in all shades of brown and green that I use in many rooms of my house. They couple nicely with these old vintage style prints.
This little vignette is on a homemade bench that sits next to the fireplace. It is directly across from the couch, where I’m likely to be found most of the time this winter.
Winter will never be my favorite season, but it is quickly becoming one that I enjoy more and more every year. Now that I am retired, it is the one season with no pressing demands on my time. I have finally learned it is okay to slow down and do nothing if I feel like it. The numerous dark, gloomy, rainy, or snowy days of winter give me permission to do exactly that. Resting, relaxing, reading, and napping is my personal interpretation of hibernation. All too soon, spring with its many outside chores will be upon us, and for the first time in my life, I’m okay if it takes its time coming.

As I may have said before, your could have a second career in styling home decor, Cindy. I’d never heard of digital downloads of art, although it makes perfect sense to me. Do you print your downloads using your own home printer, or do you take it somewhere to print it?
Cindy says
Each download comes with multiple sizes. So if it is 8-1/2 x 11 inches or anything smaller, than I can print it on my own printer, which makes the art very cheap. I only go get them printed when I want a larger size. I have bought several downloads for spring and autumn also, so I will print those up as the seasons come along.
I didn’t realize you can get also digital download pictures on Etsy for the TV’s that display a picture on the screen when not on. And the downloads are so cheap, I’d be changing my TV picture every month.
I somehow fell off your email list that notified me of when you write a blog post and for the life of me,I couldn’t remember the name of your blog. Now I can go over and see what you are up to. Lots of gardening I’m sure. I’m so glad I have winter to rest. My body would not hold up for year round gardening.

Blogger ceased providing email notifications of new blog posts, Cindy. I’ve no idea why. I have a blog list embedded in my sidebar that allows me to track new posts, which is how I learned that you’d resurfaced 😉

I couldn’t even find a button or a way to follow on your blog. I guess I’ll just have to check in occasionally to see what you’re posting.
