Clematis has never grown very well for me at this house. After many years of trying to grow them, there is only one clematis I still grow and that is ‘Jackmanii’ – and even that one hasn’t always done well. But it does always put on quite a display, growing on my picket fence and garden gate.
And where else really would one expect a clematis to show off other than on a post, fence or garden gate?
Along with the bird bath for company, it creates the quintessential garden view from my house.
‘Jackmanii’ is a clematis that I can actually not only remember it’s name, but it is very common and easy to find.
‘Jackmanii’ loves the camera and is a vision to behold from any angle.
Whether looking towards the back of the house . . .
or away from the house . . . ‘Jackmanii’ in full bloom is a vision to behold.

It’s a gorgeous thing, Cindy. I’ve tried several Clematis but the only one that’s survived here is the sweet autumn clematis (C. ternifolora). It was also the only one that survived in my former garden.

I’ve not tried the autumn clematis. My sister has one that is heavenly. I may have to give that one a try, especially since it blooms so much later.
I wish I still got notices when you post. I never know when you have put up a new post, and I never get an email anymore telling me you have responded to my comment. This time I didn’t even get an email that you had left a comment. All of this technology stuff is too much for my old brain. I’m still trying to figure out why my sliders won’t change without having to contact my tech girl and having to pay her. It’s enough sometimes to make me want to quit my blog and close it down. I really only keep it open for my personal use to document changes on my house and yard, and to work on my photography. And the sad thing is, if I do close it down, I lose all of those posts and photos.
