It’s been a long time since I’ve made a bouquet, and even longer since I’ve photographed and shared it online. A hot summer, with back-to-back projects, has kept me busier than I like to be. But now, it’s time to slow down and enjoy what’s left of the nice weather and summer flowers.
I started this arrangement with vanilla strawberry hydrangea blooms that were practically kissing the ground from their weight. Then I added a little of this and a little of that.
I made this bouquet at the table that is out in my garden. It is so convenient since it is near to everything blooming. I realized I haven’t used this table all summer since it is in full sun, and it was an oppressive hot summer. Now that it’s cooler, it is nice to be making arrangements and taking meals here again.
With no plan in mind, this bouquet ended up with many fall jewel colors and the faded hues of summer.
Having taken vacation time last week to finish up the last of the summer projects, it was the perfect opportunity for sitting and dining at this table. So instead of taking the bouquet into the house, I left it outside to enjoy with meals.
Separating the table area from the rest of the garden is a wall of verbena bonariensis that I find soothing and delightful to view the rest of the garden through. Watching it sway in the breeze is mesmerizing and relaxing.
Having completed four large projects this summer, my energy levels are depleted and I’m certainly ready to relax and coast a little before leaf raking season starts. And I believe, as much as weather permits, this is where I want to do it.

Thank you Cathy. It’s taken me a long time to get around to doing a blog post. With the state of the country, sometimes blogging just doesn’t seem important. Now that the major projects are done, I’m hoping life will get back to being a little more normal, if there is such a thing this year.

It looks like a lovely place to spend time, Cindy, at least now that your temperatures have cooled. Congratulations on completion of your garden projects, which I hope you’ll share soon. I love the Hydrangea and so wish I could grow them here – the blooms age so beautifully.

Thank you Kris. I’ve been working on outdoor living projects for several months, that thanks to some vacation time are now complete. As far as the garden projects, they are never complete. Took another week this week to work on those. And some nice rain tonight will make the transplanting easier on me and the plants. What more could a gardener ask for?
