My porch accessories were getting a little faded and shabby, and in need of an update. Instead of doing a total makeover, I was trying to replace just the worn out items to conserve on spending. The focus of the porch are the Adirondack chairs, therefore the color scheme will center around the pillows. I couldn’t find outdoor fabric that I liked, so I went with regular fabric and I will Scotch Guard them for extra protection.
Starting with the biggest pillow, I fell in love with this cheerful black and white buffalo check. My heart was set on a red geranium fabric with a black background for the medium size pillows. But unfortunately, I could not find anything along that line, either in fabric or ready made pillows. So I settled for this bee fabric with a green background. And for the smallest lumbar pillows, I used leftover outdoor fabric from the last set of pillows.
Now, I really didn’t need three sets of pillows for these chairs, but the fabric combination was so perfect, I couldn’t resist.
I found a door mat in a black and white check at the grocery store that coordinated nicely with the main pillows. Since this is a screened in porch with outdoor carpet, I have never had a door mat before. But I love this cheerful addition to the porch and couldn’t resist layering with a sisal rug underneath for extra dimension, texture, and warmth.
This lovely vintage planter got an update with three new faux ferns from Hobby Lobby. I love faux plants that actually look real especially since I don’t have to worry about watering them.
The table is basically the same and may eventually get new padded seat covers.
The “Porch Rules” sign that I made and mounted inside a vintage window, has lasted many years. And hopefully will last many more.
My favorite place to sit and read or view the garden during the summer, is in the protected corner of the porch. It has an overhead lamp for reading, and is out of direct sunlight and safe from rain.
Lastly is the black metal cart that simply got a refresh with a coat of new paint.

Many simple elements making a beautiful whole, Cindy. You have a wonderful eye for what makes a space shone! And I’d be happy following all your porch rules!

How I wish distance didn’t separate us, so that we could sit awhile and enjoy each others gardens and company.
