I wish every room in my house was as simple to decorate as my bedroom is.
I used nothing more than a few vintage shiny brights found at a flea market many years ago, and a string of fairy lights.
Every time I look at this vignette, it reminds me of a still life portrait.
I’ve tried this year to cut back on my Christmas decorating, to pare down, and make it a more simple process. I’ve even been selling off things I know I’ll never use again on Facebook Marketplace. Even so, not nearly enough has gone out the door.
This bedroom vignette reminds me how simple I want my life and decor to become. While social media and retail marketing are constantly telling us we need “more” or “new”, all I want is “less”. Because truly, less is more.
And in the evening, when I’m lying in bed reading or watching TV, the little fairy lights add the perfect atmosphere and Christmas ambience.

It’s a really lovely display, Cindy, and a perfect illustration of your “less is more” mantra. I dialed down my own holiday decorating this year but I feel I could have taken that process still further. I find it particularly hard to get rid of the tree ornaments imbued with memories but at least I didn’t try to pile them all on this year’s smaller tree. I hope your Christmas season is cozy and bright!

Thank you Kris. How I long to live more simply and have less to take care of. I parted with all of my old ornaments many years ago. Many of them I had made myself when I was first married, but I really don’t miss any of them now. It’s too late for this year, but next year I’d like to set a goal of not buying any additional Christmas decor. But I think the key to that is staying off of Instagram and not reading any home decor blogs.
Seasonal blessings to you too Kris. Our ideas and memories of the Christmas season are so different. I can’t imagine Christmas without cold and snow, but you probably can’t imagine it without warmth and sun.

So very pretty Cindy. You have such good taste! I agree, less is more, and although I have never really gone over the top with decorations I also find I am constantly sorting out things I will never use. Enjoy the holiday season Cindy!

Thank you Cathy! It is a good feeling to pare down to just what you need and love. Sometimes I wonder why I keep buying when this is so much more rewarding. I suppose it’s the power of marketing.
Happy Holidays to you and your family. May it be blessed and healthy!

Hi Cindy, like with your festive mantlepiece you’ve succeeded with the xmas decoration of your bedroom. It’s simple, stylish and romantic, just perfect. I think we all tend to accumulate way too much over the years and it can liberating to give things away. Hope all is well with you. WIll you celebrate xmas with your family? Best wishes, Annette
Cindy says
Thank you Annette. It is very liberating to get rid of things. My goal is continue this trend and not accumulate more. Getting organized in the new year always brings another surge of purging items. I had to clean things out of my attic this fall to have some water pipes replaced, and I am going to be very restrictive about what I allow back in there.
I will celebrate Christmas with at least my daughter. It still remains to be seen if my extended family will gather on Christmas Eve or not. It may be a much smaller group, which will be better than nothing. At least we can still attend church on Christmas Eve and that makes me very happy. And you, what will you be doing?
Wishing you and your family very enjoyable and healthy holidays together.
