springfield extravaganza

I spent this morning at the Springfield Extravaganza Flea Market in Springfield, Ohio with my daughter.  It’s a 3-day event held on the third weekend of May and September and is always best attended on the first day, because the good stuff goes fast.  From experience, the absolutely best things go on Thursday, which is set up day for the vendors, and the entrance fee is pretty steep if you’re there just to browse.

These guys were huge and actually are barbecue grills.  Can you imaging having one of these in your back yard?

Most of these photos I’m not going to narrate.  It was threatening rain all day long, so we hit the outside vendors first, and saved the tented vendors for when the rains came.

This metal piece was so cool, around 4 – 5 feet wide and a mere $125.  It would look fantastic on a brick wall in a loft apartment.

Now we’ll head inside under the tents where many of the vendors are shop owners from various nearby states.  This is where all the really pretty things are . . . and the pretty prices too.

This booth is run by two sisters who come every year from our neighbor state, Indiana.

Many vendors bring plants, which is always such a big temptation for me.  They add such a nice touch to a booth or home.

Now this is Micky’s booth.  She has a shop in Erie, Pennsylvania, and is my absolute favorite vendor.  She brings the most beautiful and large pieces of furniture I have ever seen.  I’m not sure how big your house would need to be to display even one of her pieces, but they are always too big for my little house.  I can’t even imagine moving one of these pieces of furniture.

She rents a double space, and you can hit her booth first thing Friday morning only to find many of the pieces were purchased on Thursday by dealers.

I loved this cowboy.  If I lived out West, I definitely would have had to bring him home.  He looks like he’s had a rough life and some good stories to tell.

This is a flea that is well worth the trip to Ohio if you live anywhere nearby.  And in September, it is almost always the same weekend as The Country Living Fair, which is in Columbus, Ohio, just an hour from Springfield.
